Drag and cabaret portraits are their own thing. The look is already built, the character already exists, and the job of the photograph is to hold it still without flattening it.
Lighting has to work with heavy paint, wigs, latex, sequins and everything else that eats or throws light in ways a normal portrait setup can’t handle.
I’ve been shooting performers for years, on studio portraits, press shots and posters for theatre and cabaret productions.
